The BIG Move 2.0

Because I like the look of blogspot I am putting my blogs here too to give it a try. We will see how it goes.

Cat Tags and Bed Frames

Edit 030514: This was taken from my "old" blog and I found the story oddly sentimental, therefore I re-posted it for sentiment-sake, plus I enjoy the Short/Long story format.  It tells of our recent move to Boston, MA 2010, pretty sure those cat tags/collars lasted a week before ending up behind the couch.

My goddess, it is so true in this instance that you “don’t know what you’ve got until it’s taken away”! Today we received both our bed frame with mattress and some updated cat tags.

Short cat tag story: We needed new cat ID tags.
Long cat tag story: For obvious reasons I needed to get new cat ID tags. Thank the goddess that the cats didn’t get out of the apt, but Arthur is very curious every time we open the door, and both of them spend 70% of their awake time in front of the windows pawing at little bugs (and I have no idea how strong those screens are). I still want to get that little chip put in them, but in the mean time I got some updated plastic tags that won’t get rubbed off like the metal ones I had before. And don’t they look cuuuuuuuute :) Arthur is stylin' in a black bow tie, and my sassy Olive has a hot pink heart.

Short bed story: We gave our old bed back to my mom because it was a “full” size and we did not have room in the trailer to transport it. Two and a half weeks later, sleeping on our air mattress every night, we finally have our new, queen size mattress and bed frame.

Long bed story: Back when I moved into Marshfield, WI (July 2008) I moved all of my furniture from my old room at home into my new apartment. Bedroom-wise this included a matching set with a bed frame (and full size mattress), long dresser with mirror, side table, and tall dresser. It all fit really well in the room, but once I got cats a couple of months later they decided their favorite game was to climb up under the bed through a hole in the bottom of the box spring and play with each other literally inside the bed. Needless to say it made me nervous, and the constant scratching under the bed woke me up during the night=annoying! Sooooo, I took the mattress off the frame and put it on the ground so they could no longer get under there. Spencer moved in Jan 2009 and we quickly found out that we needed a bigger bed, for obvious reasons (2 ppl in a full size?!? Puh-lease!)
Fast forward to July 2010 when we are getting ready to move to Boston, MA. Our old bed was good to us, but we needed more room. Also, we had zero space in the trailer to take the bed, frame, as well as the long dresser and the side table. So my mom took them all back and re-made my old bedroom, and we decided to get a new one once we got out to the east coast. We had an air mattress that worked pretty well for us for the first couple of nights (it was at least a queen size) but then it started leaking and we found little pin prick holes in various places (the cats obv). We had been here a week and a half when we finally found a bed and frame from the same place for a decent price. Unfortunately, we had to wait a week for it to be delivered! With the air mattress shot (it was so bad that we were inflating it every half hour), we decided to lay out every single blanket on top of one another to create a little temporary bed. What else could we have done? Bought another air mattress? Yes, but we didn’t feel like driving anywhere. Slept on the couch? Gave that back to my mom. Slept on a friends couch? We don’t have any friends here… Soooo, we did the best with what we had! And, man, am I glad we don’t have to sleep on our ghetto bed anymore :)

Cat tags and bed frames are essential to our life, and I am relieved that we finally have both!
