memorial day weekend 2021

Laura, Lena, Olivia, and grandma and grandpa joined us in Madison for memorial day weekend! So great to have them and they even spent the night in our new downstairs! Laura, mom and i completed a murder mystery downtown with Leo while dad and Spencer watched the rest of the kids. Then we went swimming at the pool at grandma and grandpas hotel. The next day we went to a playground and got the bouncy house out! I'll let the pictures do the talking:

leo is 7 months!

"Fun Never Sleeps" = what his shirt says, gift from Gma Elsie. Look at those gammers, they're stretching out.

Stronger, smarter, more mobile, loves to eat pretty much anything! He's in 18 month clothing, and as tall as Elsie was at 1 year old. He won't be walking at 8 months like his sister but he's getting plenty mobile and great with his hands! And he is an expert with the walker now, can turn it and get out of corners and pretty much walk wherever he wants.

He still blows the cutest bubbles. He's quick to smile and laugh at pretty much anyone. We have been going to Menards a bunch these days because we are renovating our bathroom and all the old ladies that work there are smitten with him, some recognize him from the day before, ha! He always gives thme a smile, total charmer already :)

Though when he gets it in his head that he wants mom/food then it's straight to whine town. It's especially disheartening when Spencer does everything he can to make leo happy when in such a state and then as he hands leo over to me leo gives Spencer the biggest smile, kind of like yay! Gotcha!

Sitting up on his own has opened up new play opportunities, like sitting up in the bath! As expected he loves to splash the water, and put all toys in his mouth. Bonus is getting to bath with the big sister!

She can always get a laugh out of him, it's clear he loves her! Sometimes she will just be walking near him, not even paying attention and he will make a cackle or laugh sound to get her attention. I think she also likes him more and more now. He's here to stay and getting more fun each day for her!

Elsie is a total emotional threenager these days. So smart and fun, but then the littlest thing will set her off on a tantrum. Like total straight to crazy town, yelling, screaming, not to be reasoned with at all. The threat of time out or count down to calm down only exacerbates it. Love her and can't wait until she grows out of this phase.

She understands teh concept of time, but not quite how to tell time or generally how long something takes, so if we say "Time to be done with your Fire tablet", she'll go "NOOOO!!" So then we will ask her, "How many more minutes?"...."4 because I am 4".

Spencer when he was a baby, I see the resemblance with Leo :)

Crazy swing at the Dream Park in Sun Prairie, perfect for teh kiddos though!

Leo loves the ball pit and putting all the balls in his mouth!

You're supposed to be sleeping.....but you are soo cute! And look at you pushing up on hands and knees <3 <3

Leo last bath laying down, now he sits up in his little bath tub in the big bath tub with Elsie, it has a great seat that keeps him steady.

He's got a large and beautiful noggin on his shoulders!

Grandma, Lena, Olivia, Laura, Grandpa visit!

Cabin June 4 to 6

90s and not humid at the first 2021 trip to Spencer's cabin, TONS of sun :) Gma Melanie, Gpa Mark, and Uncle Dennis joined us for the weekend to get the pier in and hang out. It was great to get Leo up to the cabin for the first time, even though he made the car rides torture when he wasn't sleeping (shrug). We all survived. Bonus, the Lac du Flambeau elementary school playground was open (take that coronavirus!), so Elsie and I got to spend an hour together there :)

Elsie is really great in the water, loves to jump in, pretty much can swim on her own. She and I took a quick boogy board ride around the lake, that was awesome and def need to do again - maybe circle the entire lake next time!

Some great Elsieisms on the trip, should have wrote more than these down:

"And if we gotta go potty we can stop at a gas station."

"Stopping [the car] is all about getting stuff."

"If Grandma is available I can go with her, you know" (what three year old says available)
